Modulo Privacy Policy

Effective 15 September 2026

The short version: Modulo has no account, doesn't track you, shows no ads, and doesn't sell anything about you. Your notes live on your device. The only thing that ever leaves it is an anonymous crash report if the app crashes.

Who we are

Modulo is made by Phoenix Rise Interactive, an independent app studio based in the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, contact us at phoenixriseinteractive@gmail.com.

What the app stores, and where

Modulo stores everything on your device only:

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. There is no account, no sign-in and no cloud sync. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. We cannot see it, recover it or hand it to anyone.

Photos

If you add a photo to a note, the app asks for permission to read your photo library and copies only the photo you chose into the app's own storage. It never scans or uploads your library.

Sharing a note

When you share a note, the app hands it to the app you pick — Messages, WhatsApp, AirDrop, Mail and so on. From that point the note is handled by that app under its own privacy policy. We don't see it and it doesn't pass through any server of ours.

Term start dates

The app keeps a record of the term start date it suggested and the one you chose, so it can make better suggestions. This record contains no personal information — only the university, course category, year of study and the two dates — and it stays on your device.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), a service that helps us find and fix bugs. A report contains the type of error, where in the app's code it happened, your device model, operating system version and the app version. It does not contain your notes, your course details, your name, your email, or any identifier that links it to you. Reports are kept for 90 days. Sentry's own policy is at sentry.io/privacy.

What Modulo does not do

Children

Modulo is for university and college students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. Because we hold none, the practical answer is simple: everything is on your device, under your control, and deleting the app deletes it. If you believe we hold something about you — for example from an email you sent us — write to phoenixriseinteractive@gmail.com and we'll deal with it promptly.

Changes to this policy

Modulo has no accounts today. We may add optional accounts or cloud sync in the future — for example so you can back up notes or keep them across devices. If we do, it will be optional, we'll update this page first and change the effective date at the top, and the app will tell you exactly what an account stores before you create one. Nothing you have on your device today will be uploaded without you choosing it.
